Schiele’s body of work is as interesting as his short life. Although it has early influences of Klimt, he has created his own restless style. I see his personality more than his art, and cant stop imagining his rebellious, restless, drifting world which consumed him eventually…
Is he supposed to look like he is on fire? Sorry, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to art but would love to learn more about it.
As far this picture goes.. he is perhaps trying to represent that discomfort of the ordinariness..metaphysically representing that using those burning colors.. Or it could be none of the above…. never know whats in an artists head

No problem. I liked your hypothesis though…a metaphysical representation of his discomfort of the ordinary. I love the contrast between the anguish of his hands and the blankness of his gaze.
intrigued about his art n life, this particular painting wouldnt be my fav, found his paintings of women are more impressive..what a life he lived
